Morrison Spowart offers an excellent service in all areas of Family Law. Our specialist team of lawyers will provide you with quality legal advice and guidance. We are friendly, approachable and aim to resolve your matter smoothly and sensitively.
We can help with:
Relationship breakdown – We understand that this can be a difficult and distressing time for clients who are likely to be facing emotional and financial difficulties. We can guide you through the difficulties sensitively and efficiently with a view to achieving the best outcome for you. We aim to deal with cases in a constructive and non-confrontational manner, with referrals to mediation in the first instance where appropriate, so as to avoid the costs. .
If however court proceedings do become necessary, we will work hard to bring your case to a fair conclusion.
We have expertise in advising on the legal procedure of divorce, the dissolution of civil partnerships and judicial separation. We can advise on resolving financial matters including the legal ownership of property and financial settlements for children. In certain circumstances we can obtain emergency financial injunctions.
Domestic violence – All our family solicitors are experienced in advising on and obtaining immediate court injunctions for the protection of clients who are at risk of domestic violence and all other related issues such as protecting your home and children. Again, we offer same-day emergency appointments to those in need of immediate protection from domestic violence.
Many of our solicitors are members of one or more of the Law Society’s specialist panels for example the Family Law Panel and the Children Panel which is your assurance that our work is of the highest standard.
Funding–The Governments legal aid budgets have been reduced in recent years. Legal Aid is no longer available for Relationship breakdowns. There is still limited legal aid available for Domestic violence injunctions depending on the circumstances of the case. We will always advise you as to your eligibility for legal aid and we will help you with your application. If in your particular circumstances legal aid is not available, we offer competitive rates should you wish to instruct us privately. We also operate an initial fixed fee interview scheme to provide 30 minutes of legal advice.
Our Family department is headed by Jenny Morrison, Director, Children Law accredited specialist.
