Our Family Department offers an excellent service in all areas of family law. Our aim is to resolve your problems smoothly and sensitively by providing top quality legal advice and guidance without any jargon.

We understand that at this difficult and distressing time clients will be facing emotional and financial difficulties and where possible we will aim to deal with cases in a constructive and non-confrontational way by referring cases to mediation in the first instance to avoid cost and the uncertainty of going to court.

If court proceedings are necessary, we will work hard to bring your case to a fair conclusion.

We can help with:

Marriage break down - advising on the legal procedure and obtaining your divorce or other effective alternatives including judicial separation, resolving your financial matters and in an emergency obtaining financial injunctions and also dealing with any children issues.

Co-habitation- advising on co-habitation disputes including the legal ownership of property and financial settlements for children.

Domestic violence – advise on and obtaining immediate protection for clients at risk of domestic violence, and all other related issues, protecting your home and children.

Children issues - Our firm specialises in care proceedings where there is social services intervention with a family. Jenny Morrison is a member of the Law Society Children Panel and gives specialist advice and representation to parents and family members in respect of applications for care orders, supervision orders, emergency protection orders and special guardianship orders.

Special Guardianship orders came into force on 30 December 2005 and was intended to fill the gap between residence, long term fostering and adoption by providing a long term care option similar to adoption but without the legal break with the birth family. Financial support is given to the special guardian by the Local Authority. In 2008 this firm successfully challenged the Local Authority, the London Borough of Lewisham, in the High Court for failing to provide the appropriate financial allowance.
