The Housing Department

Our housing department is headed by a partner of the firm, Anne Spowart. If you have problems with your landlord (whether it be the Local Authority, Housing Association or private landlord), for example disrepair, the threat of losing your home or actual eviction from you home, then we may be able to help you.

We also help with homelessness, neighbour disputes and other landlord and tenant problems.

We have a proactive and expanding department and we are the only housing team in the borough, with a housing franchise granted by the Legal Services Commission. In Chambers directory 2008 the housing department is listed as "a leading firm in the United Kingdom" and Anne Spowart is described as an "innovative and tenacious" lawyer.

In November 2004 the department expanded when housing solicitor Stephen Penfold joined the firm.

Stephen has extensive experience and particular interest in Homelessness, Judicial Review and Housing Benefit Law.

Stephen Penfold, a senior solicitor and part of the housing team has a number of reported cases in the House of Lords, Court of Appeal and High Court.
